Some covered events may include: sickness, injury, or death of a family member preventing the trip from starting; natural disasters like hurricanes or vandalism/burglary making the destination uninhabitable; you or a traveling companion being laid off or terminated; and your passport being lost or stolen within 30 days of trip departure when you need it to reach your destination. What's the difference between trip cancellation and trip interruption?

Trip cancellation kicks in before your departure date, if you can't start the trip at all. Trip interruption is similar since the same events are possibly covered, but the difference is this benefit kicks in after your departure date and during your trip. Unused portions of non-refundable prepaid costs and additional transportation costs may be reimbursed.

Traffic jams, airport delays, inclement weather, and more can prevent you from starting a trip on time. These delays could prevent you from reaching your destination and you might end up paying extra charges. Trip delay coverage can pay for these incurred expenses up to a certain limit.
